The Gospel of Lightning

September 14, 2015

I wrote this new poem

for the wedding of

Robyn Mate and Matt Intemann,

a couple who literally met

standing in a group of people

at a festival

struck by lightning.

They married on Saturday after 14 years.

Andrea jumped in on ukulele

and we had an unrehearsed, go at it.

I’m in love with it.

Accidental Impersonations of Death

“More often than not

encounters with snakes are harmless,

but sometimes,” Eve

(who would later be named Nighttime,

which would go on to be known as Darkness),

said, “I’ll be goddamned.”

It said SARAH PALIN on the back.

When I saw Kim Davis address the rally

I was re-inspired.

The Outer Ring of A Ripple Effect

September 8, 2015

Matthew Valdr, Thank you for making a bright day better

by showing me that this downright rad video of

Giant Saint Everything [mixed with Sigur Ros and

some skaters from Richmond, VA] exists. And thank you

Reese Kempter for creating it. I’m so pleased. Heart rocked back a bit.

Really quite thankful.

All in

August 30, 2015

After 3.5 months in the safety of Boulder,

I leave for L.A. on Monday.

The only way I could be more excited

is if I didn’t have to leave Andrea to get there.

Shona and I stapled about 300 of them.

Then played rummy.

And listened to Blackalicious.

Killed three raccoon with 93 Ferrero Rocher’s

sometime around there

by accident. Our yard was gold wrappers.

Home with you and Wileen will always be a high point.

Love from L.A.-bound.
