I was asked to answer a few general questions by only extracting excerpts from Falcons on the Floor. Read them here on the Collagist:

Matt Hardy, "Fallout from Fallujah: the phantom fury of a forgotten fight"

"It’s a reminder that the problems of the Middle East, be they political, social or even medical, are pan-generational. And the world, and the doctors of Fallujah, will be dealing with them for decades to come."

this is the kind of thing that freaks an author out

This is too funny. "Rana must wend her way through war-torn neighborhoods, Israeli soldiers, desperate residents and lost citizens so she can wed her beloved Khalil." I just added this to my queue because I have to watch this after that description. I knew Khalil was a really common name, but Rana wasn't on radar as far as names to avoid (as far as overlap). Small world.
