Let's dust this thing off...
It’s been a while since I posted. I fell off over the summer recuperating from foot surgery (I was non-weight bearing for 8 weeks), and there’s been a lot going on at the home front. I won’t bore you with the details, but I’ve been thinking a lot about where my life is going, our finances, and, of course, my career. I was so tied up in this all stuff, I didn’t even post about my newest release, here.
I’m not sure what’s going to happen. I know things need to change financially and professionally, I’m just not sure how to do it. Right now, I’m looking for ghostwriting projects that pay, I’m going to give self-publishing a serious chance, and I’m looking to write in other genres under a pen name. Anything, at this point, to start closing the gaps on our bills.
I won’t be restarting the paid subscription. It was just too hard to keep up with. However, I am going to get this platform active again. I just need to figure out how to do it. I’ve got some ideas.
Until then - if you want to follow me on my self-publishing journey, add me here and follow me here. As for new releases….

No matter who we are—banker, lawyer, teacher, carpenter—darkness awaits us all. And no town is more acquainted with darkness than Clifton Heights, NY. We All Go Into the Dark takes you through four chilling tales where fear lurks around every corner, and the shadows stretch long, no matter the time of day.
Zootown: A lost soul searching for purpose stumbles upon the ruins of an old carnival town just outside Clifton Heights. But what he finds in the long-abandoned grounds is far darker than he could ever have imagined—something ancient, something sinister, something that has been waiting.
The Man Who Sits in His Chair: There is a man who sits in his chair in front of his house, just across from The Motor Lodge in Clifton Heights. Why does he sit there? What does he see? A corporate lawyer on vacation will find out, much to his despair.
In the Court of the Spider King: A photographer with a passion for nature travels to Clifton Heights to capture the area’s infamous spiders. What he uncovers in the ruined Freivald Health and Wellness Spa is a nightmare no lens could ever prepare him for—an eldritch secret hidden in plain sight.
To Slip the Surly Bonds of Earth: The disillusioned host of a paranormal YouTube show, Ghost Coasters, heads to the ruins of Raedeker Park Amusements to search for ghosts, hoping for a sign. Instead, he discovers something far worse than he ever expected—something that will change everything he believes about life, death, and the unknown.
In We All Go Into the Dark, Kevin Lucia masterfully blends atmospheric horror with cosmic dark fantasy, taking readers on a spine-chilling journey through small-town myths, cult horrors, and paranormal mysteries. If you enjoy creepy ghost stories, mysterious lore, and the ever-present sense of an ancient evil lurking just out of sight, this collection will haunt you long after the final page is turned.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "We have ordinary people doing ordinary things that lead to the extraordinary... though not necessarily always the best things. After all, once the dark takes over the light, there's no knowing what lays within the shadows and further. Folklore, ghosts, evil entities, cults and cosmic fantasy saturates these pages. Perhaps you, the ordinary reader, will find yourselves side-eyeing the dark and wondering where your next mundane task will take you. Proceed with caution but remember...WE ALL GO INTO THE DARK."—Chandra Claypool, Cemetery Dance Publications

The Night Driver

Despite the late night and my interrupted sleep, I felt remarkably fresh Saturday morning. However, unlike Friday morning, I couldn't dismiss the strange events that had happened last night. The nightmare of the old man in his truck, taking Gabe away from me. Gabe's asthma attack when I woke from that nightmare. The strange, surreal occurrence in the parking lot, with the old man's truck blocking the parking lot's exit, and then the same shrouded muscle car seemingly scaring away that truck, and how Gabe instantly improved as soon as the truck fled.
That's an odd word to use isn't it?
Fled.

I want to tell you that I didn't have another nightmare. I want to say we slept soundly through the night, had a great day Saturday, enjoyed the track championship that night, slept through another night without incident, and simply went home the next day. I would love to say that, but if I did, I'd be lying.

Right from the green flag, it was clear the semi-final heat for Saturday night’s championship wasn’t going to be as easy for Springstead as the qualifying heats. Within the first two laps, he dropped back to fourth place, and found himself firmly lodged there for the next five to seven laps, no matter how much he tried to feint high and dodge low, or how relentlessly he drafted off those in front of him.

The Night Driver

It was the heavy gasping that woke me. The sound of someone desperately trying to draw a breath but coming up with nothing. A rasping, hitching, dry rattling sound. A sound deeply embedded in my worst nightmares. It was Gabe, trying to breathe and getting nothing but a tightened throat and spasming lungs.
