Neverwinter e-signing

The Neverwinter Book II in the Neverwinter Saga release is almost here!

Time is running out, so place a reserve for signed/personalized copies of New York Times Best-Selling Author R. A. Salvatore's newest Drizzt book today.

Read a Chapter from Neverwinter

With the last of his trusted companions having fallen, Drizzt is alone—and free—for the first time in almost a hundred years. Guilt mingles with relief, leaving Drizzt uniquely vulnerable to the persuasions of his newest companion—Dahlia, a darkly alluring elf and the only other member of their party to survive the cataclysm at Mount Hotenow. But traveling with Dahlia is challenging in more ways than one.

As the two companions seek revenge on the one responsible for leveling Neverwinter—and nearly Luskan as well—Drizzt finds his usual moral certainty swept away by her unconventional views. Forced to see the dark deeds that the common man may be driven to by circumstance, Drizzt begins to find himself on the wrong side of the law in an effort to protect those the law has failed. Making new enemies, as his old enemies acquire deadly allies, Drizzt and Dahlia quickly find themselves embroiled in battle—a state he's coming to enjoy a little too much.

How to Write a Damn Good Fight Scene

Nothing gets your pulse pounding like a good fight scene. It's better than coffee in the morning, and worse than a Red Bull at night""especially if you're trying to get to sleep sometime before dawn. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who would confess to missing more than one lunch bell while engrossed in the middle of a particularly riveting fight scene.

A hallmark of the fantasy tradition, fight scenes are as common as whimsical six-syllable names in fantasy books, and yet, despite their frequency, there's nothing harder to write. So when it came time to write this column, I knew I was going to have to call on the big guns, if I wanted to get it right: R.A. Salvatore.

Neverwinter

A new website has launched at www.playneverwinter.com that features new screenshots and concept art, an E3 teaser trailer, forums and a FAQ section.

Cryptic is working closely with Wizards of the Coast and fantasy author R.A. Salvatore to craft a storyline that occurs alongside the events of Salvatore's Forgotten Realms novels, beginning with Gauntlgrym. In Neverwinter, survivors of a catastrophic volcanic eruption are working to rebuild their fallen city and reclaim their heritage, but evil forces are conspiring to undermine the city's resurrection. As one of five classic D&D classes, players can band together in 5-player co-op to play through the official campaign, or create and share their own content through what is being called The Foundry toolset.
