Author Jessica Keller & The Fireman’s Secret

Jessica Keller

My guest today is Love Inspired author Jessica Keller. She is offering a giveaway of her latest book so be sure to leave a comment. Now she’s going to introduce you to her latest heroine. Here’s Jessica.

My latest release from Love Inspired, The Fireman’s Secret, centers around two people who are both hiding something. The Goose Harbor heroine, Shelby Beck, was trapped in a fire as a teenager when the church mysteriously burned down and carries scars from the burns on her arms, legs, and back. She hides these by wearing long sleeves and long pants year round. As an adult, Shelby acquires the land that the church used to be on and plans to rebuild it because she believes her healing is tied the church’s rebuilding.

When Joel Palermo, who spent three years in foster care as a teen in Goose Harbor before he ran away, returns to town as a fireman, Shelby reconnects with him right away. But she struggles with how close she should let him get since she knows the relationship can’t last. She usually ends dating relationships before a man can learn about her scars and reject her.

Because of everything Shelby has been through in her life she’s incredibly compassionate and has empathy for those in need. This comes through especially in her desire to save elderly dogs from being euthanized in dog pounds because they aren’t being adopted. She also reaches out to Joel from the get-go because she remembers he had a troubled childhood and was never adopted.

Sometime the strongest and bravest thing a person can do is realize that, even in a damaged state, they are worthy of being loved and they are capable of loving others as-is. Shelby’s compassionate nature is put to the test when she discovers– The Fireman’s Secret.”–Jessica

Author Mary Moore & To Rake or Not to Rake

Mary-14 Color Blue w scarf - No!

My guest today is Love Inspired Historical author Mary Moore. She writes Regency Romance, something I love to read. She is offering a book giveaway of her latest title, Accidental Fiancee. Here’s Mary:

Accidental Fiancée is my new Regency release and I wanted to talk to you about Lady Grace Endicott, my heroine.

A Rake?

I have wanted to do a story about a rake for a long time, but feared the attempt while writing for an inspirational publisher. So I looked back at my favorite author of all time, Georgette Heyer. She has some really wonderful rakes without any of the racy scenes we would expect today in such a story. Hence I knew it could be done.

Ala Georgette Heyer

My agent and my editor both okay-ed the submission for the story about the bad boy in Town who was rich, wealthy and able to do as he pleased. But without giving too much away, underneath he was not as bad as he was painted.

Lady Grace Endicott

My favorite part of the book, however, is Lady Grace Endicott. A rich, handsome, n’er-do-well can very easily take over the story. But I wanted my heroine to be able give as good as she got, be as strong and independent as her rake, and most importantly, keep her faith always in the forefront no matter what the circumstances.

The Regency period is an era where the very rich cared only about being seen and what they wore or how much a man’s horses cost. Going to church was something many of the rich did, however, it was just an obligation and lasted until the end of the service and went no farther.

Feisty, funny, and focused

But Lady Grace doesn’t hide her beliefs or give up easily. She quickly recognizes the apathy of those in their social circles and determines to be a force for good in the slums surrounding the posh riches of the upper classes. That she does so makes her different than any other woman of Lord Weston’s acquaintance and he very soon becomes involved in Grace’s attempts to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.  Lady Grace is feisty, funny, and focused on her family. The theme of grace permeates the story as she shows her hero that God’s grace is free in spite of his past.”–Mary

I think I would love to read this! How about you? QUESTION: Do you enjoy Regency Romance? Have you ever read a Georgette Heyer Regency? I just reread Black Sheep where Lady Abigail Wendover falls in love with Miles Caverleigh, a black sheep–love that story.

Author Ann Tatlock Steps Out of Time & Book Giveaway

Ann Tatlock

My guest today is author Ann Tatlock. She is going to tell us about her unusual story, a mix of reality and fantasy. I hope you will leave a comment in reply to the QUESTION at the end to be entered into the drawing for a copy of Once Beyond  a Time. Here’s Ann as she Steps Out of Time:

Meg Crane is a woman with an all-too-common problem:

her husband has had an affair. But when Sheldon Crane resigns his position as a pastor and moves his family to a small mountain town in North Carolina, Meg finds herself facing a situation no one has ever faced before: she discovers their house is a place where all of time is happening at once. Meg and her family are able to talk with people who have lived in the house in the past and others who will live in the house in the future.
As Meg wrestles with the choice of forgiving her husband or leaving him (daughter Linda thinks she’s weak for not divorcing him and moving on), she is both comforted and challenged by a woman who lives in the house almost forty years in the future. Celeste encourages her to forgive; Meg promises to try.

Then the unthinkable happens.
The Crane’s eight-year-old son disappears. No one knows whether he has been kidnapped or whether he simply wandered off into the mountains and got lost. With heartache upon heartache, Meg must turn to a God whom she has never really known how to trust.

God’s Timelessness
I was inspired to write Once Beyond A Time as I considered God’s timelessness. As Revelation 1:8 says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (KJV).

Unlike humans who occupy a single point in time, God stretches from start to finish, he is and was and is to come, and therefore he is the Eternal Now. He created time for our use, but he remains outside of it and is unhindered by it. So, I wondered, what if one was able to “fall out of time” and experience what God experiences?

I hope you will come and experience for yourself Meg’s unusual story in which she finds the strength to surrender her hurts and doubts in order to trust the sovereignty of a timeless God.”–Ann

Author Leann Harris & Forgiving the Unforgivable

Leann Harris

My guest today is Love Inspired author Leann Harris. She is offering two copies of her latest independent book The Last Truth. Please remember to leave a comment to enter the drawing. Here’s Leann:

“How can you forgive the unforgivable? The heroine of my newest book, The Last Truth has to travel that road.

During WWII

During WWII Churchill set up Special Operations Executive to send spies into occupied Europe to help fight against the Nazis. The spies–both men and women–were dropped into an occupied country to work with the local resistance and contact London with their information. When I learned about SOE, a story started to rumble around in my head.

Corrie Ten Boom

Then I read about Corrie Ten Boom speaking in a German church about forgiveness. One of the camp guards who had participated in the horrors where she was imprisoned walked up to the front of the church after the service and asked for forgiveness. She had to put into action what she’d just preached about.

Those threads came together thus was born the story The Last Truth.

The Story

My heroine Linette Van Linder’s family is betrayed by her fiancé to the Nazis for hiding her father’s Jewish partner. Linette escapes and runs into an American reporter. The only way Michael St. John can get Linette out of Amsterdam is to marry her to get the visa. She joins the SOE and he the US Army. Thus begins Linette’s and Michael’s journey through the war.

After the war, Linette tells herself she wants justice for the dead, but does she want justice or revenge on the man who turned her family in?”–Leann

Lyn Talks Flash Fiction & Asks to Beard or Not to Beard?

Friends, I need opinions and will be giving an ebook away to a commenter.

I am in the process of writing the last book in my “Quaker Brides” series. The first book Honor debuted last September.

Honor web friendly

And the next book, Blessing, will be released this coming July.

Blessing

And I also self-published “Where Honor Began,” the novelette which is a prequel to Honor in November.

WhereHonorBegan-1

But authors are always mentally working on the next project. My novella, “For Sophia’s Heart,” has been a reader-favorite for several years

For Sophia's Heart

And many have requested more of Sophia. I’m planning on writing a new novella about one of Sophia’s brothers and then one about Sophia’s daughter to round out this family saga set at the turn of the twentieth century in the far northwoods of Wisconsin.

I think that I am going to use this setting for the flash fiction I intend to write here on my blog. If you recall, flash fiction is a VERY short story. And I am going to use this setting to begin to create the people who live in the northwoods in a logging area around 1900. What do you think?

And I need you to give me your honest opinion. In this setting and time period will be a lot of lumberjacks and trappers and I need to know–

QUESTION: Do you object to or like heroes with beards? Leave a comment and I’ll enter you into a drawing for an ecopy of “For Sophia’s Heart.”–Lyn
