Thousands call for Liu Xiaobo's release
Hundreds of thousands of people across the world united on Wednesday to call on China’s new leader Xi Jinping to free imprisoned Nobel laureate Liu Xiaobo and his wife Liu Xia. More than 450,000 people from 130 countries signed a petition created by Archbishop Desmond Tutu to demand the couple’s immediate release.

Kinesisk miljøaktivist slått gul og blå
Seksti år gamle Chen Yuqian hadde fått nok av forurensningen i hjemlandsbyen. I et forsøk på å bli hørt, oppfordret han den lokale partisjefen til å ta seg en svømmetur i elva i nærheten. Det skulle han ikke ha gjort. I stedet ble han overfalt av et førtitall sivilkledde politifolk og slått gul og blå.
