Det er en reell fare for at veksten blir lavere enn dette de neste årene. Det kan skape sjokk i finansmarkedet og gi en betydelig lavere oljepris. The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, travels to the US and Latin America this week, for the first time since he took office in March. What a difference a decade makes. We're all upset about Baby 59. So what else do we agree on?
On Sky News last night, as the Zhejiang baby in the pipe, Baby 59, lay incubated, away from the hurly burly of his beginnings, the anchor Anna Botting and pundit Jonathan Maitland were arguing about which photo the papers should have used. The choice was between the baby coming out of the pipe, which was Maitland's preference, and the baby rescued, alive and well in a hospital setting. Read more

Xi Jinping's Maze with No Exit
Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping is in a maze with no exit. Today, there is a growing recognition that fundamental economic change in China cannot occur unless there is also far-reaching political reform to remove entrenched interests. Yet meaningful political reform is completely off the table, as China’s lurch to the left makes clear, writes Gordon G. Chang. Read more Secret Chinese
