It's very important to have a love for reading if you want to pursue your career in writing.
A writer needs to be a reader first. Whenever I am stuck with writing or going through a writer's block, I read books. A lot of books. Reading helps trigger the inactive state of my mind and makes me want to write something.
There is no count as to how many books one should read before writing. If you have a habit of reading, then that's good enough.

Walaikum Asalaam.
I was on my way to university and was listening to a song on my earplugs. That's how the plot of 'Undying Affinity' came into my mind.
