Jake Combs Step away from the writing for a while, listen to music, play a game, sometimes take a nap. When you come back you will be refreshed and the ideas will come more easily than before. It doesn't always help but the change of perspective never hurt. Another thing that helps is sometimes going back over what you've written to remind you where you are at in the story and that can help point you in the right direction.
Jake Combs Getting to tell the story I want to tell how I want to tell it. I don't believe in doing things because someone else does it a certain way doesn't mean I will.

Jake Combs A couple of friends and I were throwing around ideas for a story when i mentioned I was in the mood to write a book and within a couple of days I had started the first chapter. The book was originally intended to be a collection of short stories about the characters but by the time the first chapter was finished it took on a life of its own.
