Kristen Heitzmann I would love to!
Kristen Heitzmann Hi Ashlynn. Sorry for just seeing this now :( Yes a third is coming but not for some while. I really enjoy those characters too and now you have me wanting to drop the other projects and do it.
Kristen Heitzmann Well, I find getting outside, hiking, music, and running water can all get the creative juices flowing. Otherwise, just write something. it doesn't have to be the right thing, just move the story forward somehow. You can always rewrite and that's a different mental process. Also research is a great plot stimulator.
Kristen Heitzmann Sorry I just saw this question. I think using Myers Briggs or anything like it creates cardboard characters. I can always tell when an author has done it because the character now fits a mold. For me the best way to create fresh characters is to let them react to each scene as it unfolds. I get to know them as the reader does, no preconceived traits. I don't talk, think, or act like them, but I totally hear them, see them, and feel them.
Kristen Heitzmann It's in the works. Thanks for encouraging me to keep at it!!!

Kristen Heitzmann I promise it gets better. <3 and the journey through grief is so worth it
Kristen Heitzmann I use absolutely no process at all. They appear on the page and start saying and doing things. I get to know them, just like you, by how other characters see them, by thoughts they have and things they reveal as the story progresses. It is wholly organic, springing fresh from the moment in the story, and I'm often blindsided by their backstory etc. Once I know something, I'll go back and thread that in like texture and highlights in a painting before moving the story onward. Too much planning can trap an author in what and how she decided her character would be. I can't imagine limiting mine. It's way too much fun to discover them.
