'The Truth About Us' is actually based on real people- a husband and wife in a long marriage where the husband begins an affair with a younger woman. Believing it won't last, the wife invites the lover to come and live with them. I won't spoil the story. I got the idea from a documentary I saw a few years ago about different types of relationships and how people manage them. Fascinating stuff.

I have to believe in the story I'm writing, that it matters, and stimulates. If I'm not excited about what happens next, how can I expect my readers to be. I need to feel passionate about my characters so that they deserve to be written. Sometimes it's hard to sit down and write, but if I can see the potential for something special I press on.

I'm working on a follow-up to my latest novel- 'The Truth About Us', which is doing tremendously well. Lots of people have asked me what happens to the main character after the book finishes. I hadn't thought about this until now, but once I did, her story made sense and I am frantically getting it down.

Practice, practice, practice, be honest about your work, and constantly review. Believe in yourself and don't give up, take advice when you can and most importantly be true to who you are and want to be.

Connecting with readers, and hopefully giving them something important to think about and engage in. I love to hear from readers, and get their views and reviews, whatever they are. It makes writing worthwhile.

I just keep writing however bad it is. I think creativity is a bit like a muscle, and if you don't use it, you lose it.
