I have to admit, I'm just not that interesting. No mysteries whatsoever. I will admit, I would like to write a fictional story about some of my time in the lab. But, considering the state of the world today, that might not be a good idea. Molecular Biology is only interesting to other Molecular Biologists.

Believe it or not, Goodreads just this morning notified me of this question.
Since we've just entered Fall, I can tell you that I had no set reading list this past summer since we were all anticipating the birth of my granddaughter. All that femininity dropped into the testosterone fest that is my grandsons.
I did a lot of re-reading this summer. This was the worst summer for new books for me, with the only really happy not being an Elizabeth Hunter Elemental series book rounding out the Benzin story line. None of my favorite writers were really writing considering all of the time we have had for nearly 2 years. I've got 4 books ready to publish as soon as I can think of covers.
I'm not sure what genre you prefer, but my Urban Paladins is always good reading. I urge you to give it a try. I've got 4 new ones ready to go.

He got up from his bed, his old body creaking and popping, craving a hot cup of coffee on a cold morning. He walked into his kitchen, turning on the light, squinting his rheumy eyes, and saw, in the night, a thief had stolen his coffee maker.

I've thought about this one a lot. I will have to say, hands down, it would be Terry Pratchett's Discworld. I found that universe to be so close to what goes on inside my head that I know I would feel comfortable there.

Write. Write something. Blog, make lists, just make sure you keep writing. I may get blocked on one story so I'll work on another. I learned the importance of having more than one project to work on. Also, even if you're self-published, as I am, make deadlines for yourself and keep them.

Honestly? The stories I make up about things I watch. Also, I make up stories to tell my grandchildren about adventure and heros. The best way to hone your storytelling skills is to get a toddler to relax and listen until they fall asleep.

The best advice I ever got about writing was from a fellow writer. He said to write everyday. If you're having trouble with a block, a hiccup in your story, a plot that just will not gel, write anyway. Even if it's a grocery list. I think that's why many writers also have blogs. When you're stumped, just write about what's going on in your day. That way, the story stays the problem and writing it doesn't become one.

I am busy editing book 5 in the Demonworld series, titled Quantum Flux, that is Arminius and Aliera's story, and I am busy writing Ava and Tal's story in the same universe. I have martin's story from Urban Paladins percolating. It's hard for me to write those books because they deal with a lot of current and modern day problems. I have the story all mapped out, it's getting it down on paper that is hard, because Martin's story does not start out all hearts and flowers, and there's no clear sign it's going to get better any time soon.

I am inspired by everything around me. It's not a puppies and unicorns thing. I have always been a people watcher and if I am forced into going out to a mall or a park, I will make up stories about the people around me. Even going out to dinner can be an inspiration. People's faces are so full of expressions they don't even realize, and I make stories up from what I see there.

I'll be honest, interactions in societies fascinate me, so I chose that as the theme for my NaNoWriMo project last year. It started me thinking and I was able to extrapolate a story on what would happen to an outwardly repressed society, when all of the blinders were ripped away by something very horrible. It doesn't just effect that world, it's like ripples on a pond. I think Reborn Hope, which released today, is a good window into how it effects a few people.
