Hi Kelsey! Thanks so much for reading The Carrot. My latest novel, The Interview, hits shelves January 14, 2016. You'll meet a young, slightly awkward Susan Wade before she becomes the polished career monster you know from The Carrot. This book focuses on her attempts to land that perfect job with INTech and all the crazy things that stand in her way. I truly hope you'll enjoy it!

Great question! Heavily. An author comes to the table with her own experiences and notions. Having been thoroughly exposed to North Carolina's culture, I feel I can write stories with a deeper understanding and passion than from places where I do not have such experiences. The physical environment plays a huge role in my descriptive abilities as well. I can make up the feel of a city, for example, but until I've walked its streets, smelled it's smells, interacted with its people, I fear the result is simply a lacquered finish. I enjoy travelling and I generally incorporate those experiences into my stories.

Love 'em!! Who doesn't? Susan and Pete, the main characters in "The Carrot", are both ICEE freaks, though I'd bet ice cream sandwiches rank very highly on Pete's list. Awesome question!!

Ruthlessly, and with a machete! In seriousness, I make major chops and then go back line by line, deleting superfluous words or phrases. It's very painstaking, but absolutely worth it.

The idea found me. Honestly, I have little control when characters and story lines come knocking. Much of this novel is set in the south where I grew up. I also know a number of high powered business people and understand that environment quite well. The two forces combined and "The Carrot" was born.

Anything and everything inspires me, be it a random bit of conversation, an interesting person, a trip, a vision in the shower.

A novel that takes the reader from New York to the West Indies. I believe you will enjoy it!
