Hannah R. Conway The Wounded Warrior's Wife is deeply personal. My husband is an infantry soldier and we've spent many years apart. After returning from war, things were different with him, with me, with our relationship. PTSD and TBI were conditions just coming on the scenes and no soldier wanted to be identified with them. For years I just dealt with the differences, but I was lonely, very depressed and I felt unpatriotic for having difficulty being an Army Wife. It took awhile for God to show me that I wasn't alone and if I was struggling, so were others. He walked with my husband and I through dark times, brought healing, and placed it on my heart to write a novel.
Hannah R. Conway I'm not sure how to answer that. I feel like I have to write. Sometimes I get more anxious to write than others and that usually comes after listening to someone tell me about their life. So maybe that's my answer...talk to others and listen to their stories.
Hannah R. Conway Right now I'm really focusing on launching my first novel and all that entails. It's quite a learning process. However, I do have plans for more novels! For the most part they have a military aspect to them, and LOTS of twists and turns!
Hannah R. Conway I will tell you what I was told. Get into a writer's club like the ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers), and into a critique group (a few people/friends/writers ready to help you become better. Read books about the writing craft....anything from James Scott Bell.
Hannah R. Conway The community of readers and other authors. I consider what I do a ministry, and I see those around me--the readers and authors--a part of this ministry. We work together to spread God's loves to others with our words and reviews. It's like a big family! I LOVE IT! Not gonna lie, I also appreciate being able to take my "work" with me almost anywhere.
Hannah R. Conway How do I deal with writer's block? I typically go for a walk to let my thoughts swirl around, and then I end up drinking a cup of coffee, and eating something chocolate. This is about a 45 minute process until I finally say "SNAP OUT OF IT," and make myself sit down and write. Just write. About anything.
