C. Evenfall "The Wraith of Carter's Mill" was inspired by stories told within my earshot, by older family members when I was a child. Though the places and names changed, most of the story was built around these old scary tales.
C. Evenfall I love the outdoors and spend a good amount of time sitting in the woods behind my home with a notebook. I jot down what comes to mind. Sometimes it's a quote from a character that I have yet to meet, or maybe it's a memory of story told to me by family members long gone now.
C. Evenfall I am currently writing my next novel. I'm not ready to reveal the title, but it will be a suspense piece with a good bit of southern historical flavor and a strong paranormal element. I expect to publish it early 2016.
C. Evenfall Aspiring writers should remember "why" they write, it will help them to overcome some of the challenges of writing.
Write for yourself, write in a way that feels right to you about things you enjoy writing about. Success will come.
C. Evenfall The absolute best thing about writing is the unlimited opportunity to create lives and settings ... just the way you want them to be.
C. Evenfall Writer's block is a serious condition, but does not have to be terminal.
The absolute worse thing one can do is stress about the block because at that point, you are no longer thinking about your story, but you are worried about "why" the creative flow is interrupted.
I find that to combat it, I absolutely must step away from it for a while. There is nothing worse than staring blindly at a computer screen waiting for some great idea to manifest.
I find that if I treat moments of writer's block like crossroads, opportunities to make choices that will affect the outcome of my novel, I can overcome these "blank" moments and develop great ideas.
