It is a book about a trip I made to the Yemen in 2007. I kept a journal, took many photos and had very strong impressions of my stay. My book follows my usual style of reflection on the journey, on what has happened before and after the journey and I draw a lot on my travel experiences. I try to be informative and entertaining but this is not a travel guide of a history of the country. It is a travelogue based on my impressions of the country and the people.

Write, review, share your writing, start again but most of all make a habit of writing and find your style through study, self criticism and the eyes of others.

I am writing a travelogue about a journey I took to the Yemen in 2007. It will be observational, impressionistic, practical, and I hope, entertaining. It will be heavily illustrated by photos that were taken at the time and there will be my usual reflective style that draws on previous travel experience and events that have happened in the intervening years.

Bad weather helps, but I also have kept diaries, journals and letters for many years and I have lived and worked in 10 countries, learned several languages and travelled quite a lot. I also happened to be in some parts of the world at very interesting times, so I draw my inspiration from many sources, not to mention from other writers.
