Relina Skye I try to do something else. Normally something mindless like cleaning or driving helps. Other than that I look through stock photos for pictures that remind me of my characters. Some of those pictures are even inspiring enough to help me want to write something new. Another way to deal with writer's block is to work on a different story or to go back and reread what I've already wrote. Sometimes working on renovating earlier chapters helps to give my mind a break while reminding myself of the smaller details that are presented that could be brought back up.
Relina Skye To be honest. The reviews. It is extremely gratifying when someone else likes your work. It actually makes you want to write more. Although you can also say that is the worst thing about being a writer, too. To have someone say you're awful is crushing. Critical feedback is another story. If it is done covertly and not blasted all over the place, then it makes you feel like your readers care enough about your work to help you make it better.
Relina Skye Find what works for you. If you aren't confident enough to put out your own work, then try fanfiction. It is completely anonymous, and at the same time you get feedback from other people who enjoy the same books as you. Other than that, don't get boggled down with spelling and grammar. Write out your story, you can always proofread it later.
Relina Skye "Hailstorm" actually came to me while I was rocking my nephew to sleep. I wrote down the first chapter and left it alone for a few months. Recently, I've become obsessed with the song "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC. That song alone has triggered my inner muse to want to write down that story nonstop.
Relina Skye I have narcolepsy, so my subconscious is extremely active. Where most people go through normal phases of sleep during the night, my brain rarely shuts down. And when it does, it creates random story lines.
Relina Skye Currently, I am working on two books at the same time. The first one is the sequel to "In-Between Work and Play" called "In-Between Life and Death". The second book is called "Hailstorm". It is a part of a separate series that takes place in the same universe as my first novel. The catalyst event that starts off "Hailstorm" is actually mentioned in the second or third chapter of "In-Between Life and Death" so I would like to put that novel out first.
