I usually listen to music or try to take in media similar to what I'm trying to accomplish. If I want to write a fairy-tale, I read and watch fairy-tale related things. If I want to write sci-fi I take in some of my favorite sci-fi. I subscribe to the mantra, you have to read well to write well.
