Marissa Garner Hi May,
I'm so flattered that you took the time to ask me a question. Thank you. You made my day. I love to talk about my current books and plans for future books. Remember, all my books are stand-alone stories, so you don't have to read them in order, although I do think readers feel closer to all the characters if they start at the beginning. In the FBI Heat series, I already have the plot and characters for a fourth book, tentatively titled HIJACKED. In the Rogue Security series, a fourth book called COSTLY CORRUPTION is marinating in my brain when I should be sleeping. I will probably self-publish these because it takes soooo long to get books published by traditional publishers (like my current six books). I wish I could give you a possible release date for these, but I just don't know yet. Next up, of course, is ONLY OBSESSION, third in the Rogue series. I also have a completed romantic thriller with paranormal elements (FORBIDDEN LOVE), which I'm hoping to publish before the end of the year. This is probably way more than you wanted to know, but I do LOVE to talk books. I hope you'll try a few of mine. Happy reading!
Marissa Garner I'm sure it was a story about a girls' boarding school because I was fascinated with boarding schools back in the day. I related to the heroine who was the victim of the mean girls. This was probably because I was a Marine brat whose family moved every two years, and I always felt like the outsider at school.
Marissa Garner I'm definitely a pantser. My brain can't plan a whole story in advance because my muse always comes up with surprises.
Marissa Garner The idea for the entire Hawaiian Heat series came from my trips to Hawaii. Every time I visited the islands, it was a romantic adventure. My favorite island is Maui, so it seemed only natural to make it the setting for the series. Maui is magical. From the lush rainforest of the Iao Valley to the “moonscape” of the Haleakala volcano, from the rushing Hana Waterfalls to the windy Kaanapali beaches, the island offers a kaleidoscope of experiences. Balmy tropical breezes, sun-drenched white sand, and pounding teal surf provide the perfect relief from everyday stress and rev up a couple’s libido. That’s why I decided Maui was the ideal place for my characters to fall in love.

The first book, THE MARRIAGE TRAP, draws on some of my personal experiences. I’ve actually stayed in the Volcano House overlooking the Kilauea Caldera, which is where my hero and heroine plan a getaway. I’ve hiked on Maui’s dormant volcano, which my characters also visit. I’ve snorkeled in the coral reefs and bodysurfed on the crashing waves. But I let Drew and Ginny do something that I never had the pleasure of experiencing. If you read the book, you’ll learn what they got to do that I didn’t. I hope you enjoy all the Hawaiian experiences I share in THE MARRIAGE TRAP.
Marissa Garner Channeling my inner Dory from Finding Nemo, I just keep writing, just keep writing, just keep writing… Fortunately, writer’s block isn’t a frequent problem for me. I can write something even if it needs fixing later when my muse is more creative. A wise romance author once said that you can’t fix a blank page. She was sooo right. Just keep writing, just keep writing…
