If you get an idea, simply write! Even if it's a page or paragraph a day, get the idea down. Even if you wake up the next day with a bigger and better project in mind, at least you have that old thought down in case you decide to pick it back up.
Also, it's okay to dream big! You're supposed to! Just don't write for the money, write because you want to share your world with others. Some people will embrace your vision, but if some don't, just accept it.

In addition to the Isaac Comett Series, there is a short Fantasy novel that's kind has a bit of a "Princess Bride" vibe to it, as well as an epic geared towards a younger audience.

Whenever I hear a song or listen to an album, I treat it like a story being told with sound. I try to get a feel for that story and then translate it into words. A lot of times the inspirations for the characters are drawn from the people that were around while I was listening to the music.

It's a long story, but basically it came to me while listening to music. You see, I have a tendency to create music videos in my head for songs that I like (sounds a little odd, I know!).
One of them turned out to be an adventure story revolving around aliens and a giant crystal that housed tons of power, and about a small group of youths trying to put the pieces together. After a long while, I stitched these made-up stories in my head together to form a complete one. The end result was the Isaac Comett series.
