Oh, man, that's a tough one. Taking the constant threat of death or being double-crossed, I really like the world George R.R. Martin has created in his Song of Ice and Fire series. Who wouldn't like to have your own trio of dragons at your command, or eat the huge amounts of food described in his books. Yum!

I'm sure everyone has a different answer to this. For me, the best thing is I sometimes get to hear from those who have read my stories, and were entertained by them. If they like them, then it's mission accomplished, as far as I'm concerned.

My advice is that everyone has advice. Take it all in (or as much as you're able), then use what works for YOU. Discard the rest, because at the end of the day, utilizing what works for you will put you on your journey to find your writing voice. If you're looking for something a little less "big picture" though, here's one: If you are leaning toward indie publishing, invest in a good editor, and a great cover. That's indie publishing 101. You want your book to stand next to a traditionally published book, and have the reader not be able to tell which is which.

At this moment, I am finishing up my first draft of "Lights", a stand alone novel, while I'm waiting for "Minutemen: World When We Live" to come back from the editor. I'm aiming to launch that book in August.

Inspiration can come from many places. For me, one technique I use is to end my day's writing session in the middle of a scene. The next day, I REALLY want to get back to that scene and finish writing it. Reading a great book also does it for me.
