White Tiger Legend was spawned from my own journey through the martial arts. After 7 years of intense training, I took my black belt test. The training unwound my life completely. The resulting narrative fiction is a hero's journey that everyone should experience - full of deep insights, realizations, and powerful transformation.

I need isolation. I'm always passionate about my story and subject matter, but I must force the pages out each day until I am done. I often go some place I can't wait to leave when writing. So that I have no choice but to write. Otherwise I'd just go outside to avoid it.

Most people will say write. But really, you need life experience. Go travel. Go research and explore. If you're writing from your imagination - great. But the best writing comes from really living life. That's where all the insights that make your life, and your character's lives real. Those are the stories worth sharing. Your words are powerful. "Spelling" is exactly what it sounds like - casting spells. We have the power to create fantastic worlds with our words. We have the ability to inspire, motivate, and bring people together. We also have the ability to drag them through the gutters of darkness and despair. Choose your words and stories wisely. Creation is now, and your words are shaping your reader's reality. If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.

Writer's block is doubt. When I'm feeling unable to put anything good down, I know that it's a current feeling of self doubt, not ability. I say something out loud to the effect of, "I release all self doubt." Sometimes I clap my hands, or snap my fingers, and know at that moment, the doubt is gone. I then sip my green tea and get to work!
