Don't shoot me but I don't believe in writer's block. For me, if I'm stumped, then I'm supposed to be working on something else. So I just switch projects... or another scene within the current project. Keep writing anything and the dam will break.

Dump the story... let everything flow from your heart and mind through your fingertips. Then, let the manuscript cool for a good month before going back to begin the editing process. In the mean time, study everything you can on what you know to be your weak spots. The other thing is to find a supportive critique group. People you would trust with your life - because you are.

An Ozarks Christmas came from the story in the song 'That Ole Wind' by Garth Brooks. I'd attended a concert in Chicago. By the time I'd made the 2-hour bus ride home in the wee hours of the morning, I had a solid outline formulated and couldn't wait to start writing. While the working title changed over the course of almost 25 years, the core of the story, nor the characters remained.
