L.E. Doggett I have been very busy lately, moving. Did we talk already? In either case, I have two steampunk novels-each one has different settings and heroes.
L.E. Doggett Quite a few. Rivendell, Manticore of Honor Harrington fame, A couple of the Knowles of October Daye fame, some others
L.E. Doggett Well, actually summer reading for me is normal but the books in my latest to read pile are: Shadowed Souls by Jim Butcher, The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson, Bound by Benedict Jacka, Hollow Point by Ari Marmell, Empire of Ivory by Naomi Novik and a couple of others.

I am not sure what order I will be reading them though.
L.E. Doggett Hmm, I have more than one but Raine Benares and Mycheal of the Fantasy series by Lisa Shearin would be one.
I like their chemistry, both are of the same mold yet different. Shearin made sure they fit well.

Mae Rowen-Lindson and Ceder from the Age of Steam series but Devon Monk. For the same reasons as above even these two are very different from the first couple.

L.E. Doggett Various ways. Reading and coming across an idea I would like to try or do my way. Pictures too. And sometimes an idea will just pop into my head. Sometimes a challenge works too
L.E. Doggett Mostly working on Learning CurveX2 but I am also writing two novels-both are steampunk. One is distortion too-my first and the other has Dragonpunk, Urban Fantasy mixed in

I am revising two steampunk novels and a new post about them is on my GoodReads blog
L.E. Doggett Study writing. It is a craft and like all other crafts you need to learn how what works best-what readers like.
L.E. Doggett Telling stories.

Coming up with new ideas and putting them down.
L.E. Doggett I haven't had much experience with writer's block but a couple of times it really hit it had to do with new ideas. I just kept working on the old ones. Eventually new ideas came again.

Most of the time if it hits in a story I either put the story aside until my mind comes up with what goes next or at times I have had to go back and redo a section of the story because it didn't fit the idea I originally had for the story.
L.E. Doggett This is a general question, but I figure I could start this by answering it.
And I like saying where I got the idea for Above.

Reading Laura Anne Gilman's Cosa Nostradamus books. Especially the first ones dealing with Wren. Laura has a unique universe and after reading a few of her books, my mind came with my own way of doing things. My MC is closer to Walker of C. E. Murphy's the Walker Papers fame than to Wren, but still the basic idea was inspired by Gilman.

Oh when I said "closer to" I didn't very close, there are still lots of differences between Walker and my MC NA .
