Heather M. Miles I have just completed narrating seven audiobooks and I'm back to writing. I never realized how time consuming narrating was going to be, so I had to put my writing on hold to complete the contracts. I LOVED narrating and still intend to do it on the side, with much more selectivity. However, I am happy to say that I'm back at the computer and in the finishing stages of book one in a new series called Claiming Emerson. It was a book I was almost finished with when I got the narrating bug. I pitched it at the national RWA conference in July, so it's headed out to an editor in NY and I just entered it in a contest, but one way or another it going out the door soon. I have three other projects I'm working on and one is completely different than anything I've written before. It's pretty dark, but I'm excited about the prospects of playing outside the lines for awhile. Sorry for the late response. I'm always happy to spill the beans about what's going on in my world.
Heather M. Miles Sorry, for the delay on this. I'm knee deep in narrating right now. But, to answer your question. I write erotic fiction because it's a genre I myself enjoy reading. It's of course not the only thing I write. While the next two books up are going to be MERGER REIGNITED the fourth book in the MERGER series, and a new series called, CLAIMING EMERSON, I am writing a YA novel for my daughter and I have an old manuscript, a thriller/suspense from five years ago that I may dust off and take another look at. So, I'm ever evolving, but I'd say erotic and/or contemporary romance is my first love.
Heather M. Miles Since I retired last year to write full-time, I treat writing like a job. I have a writing den above my three car garage and I write every single day. I'm always inspired to write because I'm so vest in the characters and the story. I love seeing the work come to life. Writing shouldn't be an obstacle to overcome, it should be a passion that moves you get the words out.
Heather M. Miles I am currently writing book three in the MERGER series, MERGER COMPLETE. Book one, MERGER, ended with a cliffhanger and book two, MERGER UNDONE, a whirlwind of shattered hearts and more twists and turns than even I anticipated. In book three Kasey (K.K.) Blakely and Joshua Crawford will once and for all decide whether they can remain business partners or if love will prevail despite the mounting obstacles against them.
Heather M. Miles Never quit learning your craft. Wanting to write isn't enough theses days. Writing well, is a whole other thing. All writer's will tell you that there is a huge difference in their work from book one to book two and so on. Good prose is hard work.
Heather M. Miles The creative process as a whole is rewarding. Watching your story and characters come to life on the pages and being proud of the work.
Heather M. Miles Golly, that's a tough one because it does happen. Thankfully, not that often. Usually, for me, writer's block occurs when I'm trying to push a story in a direction that doesn't work. In order to get past it, I go back and read the story from a paragraph or two before and find the point where the story goes stale or no longer works and hit the magic button...delete. Often, whole paragraphs are completely obliterated in order to salvage a compelling story.
