Two books came to mind when I read this. The first is Outlander. The second is Pride and Prejudice. For both, I would love to be part of these worlds for a few weeks so I could study the people, their customs, and, especially, the history. I would take copious notes with intricate details and bring them back with me.

I've been lucky enough to never had writer's block. I think one of the things that helps me prevent this is by plotting. I'm pretty big on plotting. I use a graph with sticky notes and, if I have to, move things around.
