Roz MacLean I really like to tell stories with images, and with 'Violet's Cloudy Day' I actually created the illustrations first. This meant that writing the story was very inspired by the artwork. I'm inspired with content when I feel like there is a topic that really resonates with my personal interest, passion, and experience that I'm compelled to share with others.
Roz MacLean As a kid I was a big worrier, but it wasn't until I became a young adult that I was connected with resources and strategies, such as cognitive behavior thearapy, to help me deal with unhelpul thought patterns. Since anxiety is growing ever more prevalent with our kids, and kids with anxiety often fly under the radar as needing help, I really wanted to develop a book that could could be a resource to prevent problematic anxious thinking, instead of just treating it once it becomes a huge problem. I wanted to help kids not only to understand that they are not alone in their feelings, but also to learn self compassionate self talk and optimistic thinking skills.
