Generally, I just keep writing even if I know I'll have to toss it out later. Writer's block is no different than a baseball player's slump. Writers keep writing and baseball players keep taking their swings. In either cast it's continuing the process that gets things back to normal.

Getting to play God. By that I mean the joy of having total control over your creation.

Keep writing (and reading). The more you write the more your thoughts flow. If you stay at it, you'll have a whole page, then two. When you break through to where your thoughts are firing on all cylinders, you'll begin having fun. Once that happens your story will begin writing itself. It's a great ride, so buckle up!

Most of my ideas simply pop into my head randomly during everyday events. It could be something I'm reading or watching on television or the movies or even a conversation I overhear or an interaction I witness. But, the inspiration begins when I start posing "what if" scenarios.

I've always been intrigued by the idea of haunted artifacts, so that's where it began. But it wasn't just one idea that drove me, it was all the options relating to it. After that, one idea built on another and before long I had an outline.
