Read, read, read. Write, write, write. Repeat. If people read your stuff and tell you how it should be changed, take it with a grain of salt. Readers usually can identify a problem - something that doesn't work for them - but you are the only one who can figure out how to fix it.

I have no idea. All I can tell you is that my best ideas come when I am either falling asleep, or just waking up, when my mind is kind of free-floating still, but I'm conscious enough to remember what I was thinking about.

I get to live vicariously through my characters. Like reading, only more involved and more intense.

I have a day job. It means I don't have enough time to write. That seems to prevent any writer's block. I write when I want to; I never have to force myself. I have ideas jotted down that I have not been able to get to.

I am working on Joe Vampire, the sequel to Evelyn's Journal. I am also planning to publish a long short story (or short novella?) as a Kindle Single, called Dry Leaves, also about a vampire.

I was on a listserv called Vampyres, where there was lots of role-playing and fiction writing. Someone mentioned that most of the vampires were white. So I decided to write about an African American vampire.
