When I'm in the zone, I make sure I write 5-7 days a week. It's a muscle that grows the more I flex it. Relying on inspiration is overrated - dedication is where it's at.

Join a writing group, whether it's online or in person. Be protective of your work if it's online - don't go sending out your best prose to just anyone - but I firmly believe that finding a community of like-minded authors, aspiring or pro and everything in between, is life-changing. Plus learning how to give and receive feedback and critique is an incredible skill.

No, seriously - I'm not being flippant.
If you are stuck for something to write, then write anything at all. Even the least inspired, weakest writing session will teach you something, and possibly start that creative ball rolling. Avoiding writing and waiting for the answer to come is, to me, as bad as sticking your head in the ground.
