For The Archery Contest, that was the doing of my then critique partners. They insisted Alex have his own story. For the one I'm revising next, it was actually my Welsh heritage that inspired me to write a story based in Wales with a very feisty Welsh heroine.

Showers. Seriously, I get the best ideas when I'm in the shower! Most writers I know say the same thing. And it's usually some thread of a conversation that suddenly pops into my head, that gets me curious about whoever is talking or about whoever it is they are talking about.

Writer! Just write - you can't "fix" a blank page. And reach out to the writing community. Writers are so generous and really love to talk about the craft. Be proud that you want to write. How many people do you know that say they're going to write "some day" and never do? Go for it!

That's easy - the readers!! I love hearing from readers, either that they actually liked my story but also recommendations of other writers to try. The next best part would be tormenting my characters! ;)

Writer's Block - ick! Thankfully, I don't succumb to it too often. I have lots of crazy thoughts buzzing around. The rare times it does happen, I just go to my stacks of TBR's (to-be-read's) and find book from a different genre than what I want to write and most often that inspires me. Another trick is to read news stories, either really old or current.
