Viola Morne “There,” Papa said, placing the new doll on the rocking chair in Sarah’s room, “just as your mama requested before she passed--a lovely doll for her lovely girl, with Mama’s own hair sewn on its head.”

Bidding her goodnight, Papa left Sarah alone to stare at the doll in the darkness, whimpering as the doll turned its head and smiled at her, its teeth glittering in the moonlight.
Viola Morne I had written the Cold Hearts trilogy, about three soldiers who work as an intelligence unit. I wanted to write something else on that theme, perhaps later on. Then I began the new series about a marriage broker in Regency London, and suddenly there were smugglers and spies peeping over my shoulder. Perhaps reading about the reboot of the Poldark series jogged my imagination.
Viola Morne Like many writers, I have aspired to be a writer all my life. Now that I have a chance to write, and be published, I wake up every day itching to get to my keyboard.

That being said, I read a lot, and do quite a bit of research before, and while, I am writing a story. So, inspiration came come from many sources, and it does!
Viola Morne I currently have two works in progress. One is another historical, set in the Regency period, with smuggling and spies. The other is a contemporary set in Toronto. I am about halfway through both of them.
Viola Morne Write everyday; take a writing course (there are wonderful ones on-line); study the markets; find a way to mesh what you want to write with what people want to read; if you write in genre, don't be afraid to take chances, and step outside the box.
Viola Morne Finally having a job I love doing: writing stories and letting all the people in my head have a voice.
Viola Morne I get up from the keyboard and do something different, like taking my dog for a walk or digging in the garden. Once my mind is free to roam, I find ideas start coming to me, and then I can't wait to write them down.
