David Drayer It depends. If I am feeling overwhelmed, like there is just too much going on in my life or in my head to make sense of anything, I take a motorcycle ride or a long hike in the woods. This clears my head, quiets my mind. If I am feeling uninspired, I go someplace where there are lots of people hustling and bustling around. Bus, metro or train stations are good, but really anywhere in a city. There is just something about the energy that will eventually move me to write something about what is going on around me.
David Drayer Nothing is ever lost on a writer. Every experience—wonderful, horrible, or even mundane—has meaning and is worthy of exploration.
David Drayer The idea for A Noble Story came to me on a motorcycle trip. Recently, I have begun writing fulltime, but prior to this, I have always needed a day job to survive, and to survive the day job, I needed my weekend motorcycle trips. I’d leave Friday after work and make it back in time to show up at my desk Monday morning. It was always an adventure because I never had a destination in mind. I just knew I needed to get away! (I write about these on my blog, Drayer’s Notebook.) On many of those trips, I wondered, “What if I don’t go back? What if I just keep going?” Those questions were the seeds that grew into A Noble Story.
