I don't read much fiction, but my favorite couple is probably Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy in "Pride and Prejudice." The notion of a strong, intelligent woman was revolutionary in Jane Austen's time. Mr. Darcy initially appears attractive but aloof and unkind. The way the two are brought together is a blueprint for countless romance novels that followed.
