Shalabh Prasad Apart from my personal experiences over four decades, I have used a number of books and websites as reference.
The main reference sources are listed at the end of the book.
Shalabh Prasad Three ifs: If the subject is of interest to me, if I know a little bit about it and if I think a book with my particular angle will be a useful addition. Then I spend a lot of time thinking about the content to get confidence that I have enough in my head to be able tow write a book on the subject.
Shalabh Prasad When writing non-fiction on a particular subject, there is a lot of research involved. The risk is that you will get so deep in the research that the actual writing keeps getting pushed back. I find mixing up phases of writing and researching helps.
Shalabh Prasad I have so far written two books on topics that I am very interested in. It feels great to be able to convert an interest into a tangible form of knowledge.
Shalabh Prasad Currently reading Quichotte by Salman Rushdie. Maybe More by Philip Coggan after that.
Shalabh Prasad I have been pontificating about the foods of India for years, especially that the label Indian food just does not capture the diversity of the various regional cuisines. One of my friends prompted that perhaps a book about the foods of India, written from a foodie's perspective, would help?
