Midge Bubany I am working on two projects: the fifth in the Cal Sheehan series in which the town eccentric is killed in a hit-and-run. Cal soon learns the man is not who he said he was. The other is a novel about a Minneapolis woman whose son disappears on the same day his high school is bombed and becomes the prime suspect.
Midge Bubany Out of my imagination. There was nothing I remember in my experience which comes close to it.
Midge Bubany I guess I am lucky. I really don't need to do anything special to inspire myself to write mystery/crime novels. I listen to the news, tuning in to real events and crimes occuring all around. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of inspiration from which to draw.
Midge Bubany Write, write, write, and read, read, read, read. If you know what genre you want to write in, read aclaimed writers in that field. I consider reading a teaching tool because I can see what works for others and can later apply it in my own writing.
Midge Bubany I love creating the first draft of a novel and punching out the story for the first time. I am inspired and go with it.
Midge Bubany As of yet, I haven't experienced writer's block. I hope I never do! I think about the novel well in advance of starting to write it down, and that's been successful for me.
