Don Mathews I was torn between returning to the Berk Renner series or work on a stand alone book I had been bouncing around since mid way through Subverted. My wife convinced me to continue the Renner series. I have to say it was a good choice, I really enjoy the characters. I'm finding they have so much more to add to the stories.
Don Mathews If you are just starting your journey to becoming a writer, the best advice I could give is, don't give up, never give up, especially if God has called you to do it. Secondary would be read a lot, write a lot, learn a lot and don't be afraid of honest critiques.
Don Mathews The best thing about being a writer is the creating. I have always been creator. As a kid I loved creating huge, very detailed scenes with my matchbox cars or playing with my army men, creating elaborate battle scenes. As an adult I loved creating my company. It wasn't until I started following Jesus that I found out what I was meant to create, stories.
Don Mathews I can honestly say I have only had writer's block a couple of times. I have dealt with them in different ways. I usually try to write through it. If that doesn't help, then I will give up and move on to something completely different from writing.
