I really enjoy sharing what I'm reading and what I've read. Everything I read affects me in some way, and influences my work in some way. I think it's an interesting way to let people glimpse what's happening behind the scenes, so to speak, in my mind while I'm writing, or maybe just what I'm thinking about currently.

The room at the top of the stairs has no door, only a doorway, that’s where I sleep; but tonight, I don’t sleep. Tonight, I lie awake and stare out into the blackness of the hall and I see them—The Terrible Old Couple— that’s what my brother called them, before they took him away...back before they started coming for me.

Well, I'm a DnD nerd from way back and I love many of the dungeons and dragons settings, but if I had to pick one I'd travel to Faerun and hike through the Spine of the World, study magic in Waterdeep, kick around Neverwinter for awhile, and eventually make my way into the Yawning Portal tavern in Waterdeep and descend into the Underdark to find fame and fortune. I can't think a cooler world to explore...(well, maybe this one we live in.)

I've got a pile to get through this summer. Inspection by Josh Malerman is top of my list. I met Josh at Comic Con in Grand Rapids, MI last year. What a great guy.
Also on my list are a couple Amy Lukavics books, Nightingale and Daughters Unto Devils; the first couple Truthwitch books by Susan Dennard and far too many short story collections to list right now. I love short stories. (See my brief intro in Figures in the Forest and other tales.)
