Weirdly enough, I have a neighbor gave me old love letters from a family member. The letters are from the Civil War area, and the people lived in the National Daniel Boone Forest. In Cheap Tricks, Sophie finds letters that are kind of like that, that her great great great something grandmother wrote to the man she was in love with. It influences the story and her relationship with Neal, but I'm not going to say how...just that I'm SUPER excited!

I'm working on the next novel in the Cheap Series, called Cheap Tricks. This one is about Neal, Brandon's brother from Cheap Guitars, and Sophie, his ex-girlfriend. She's been gone in Peru for 2 years working on an untouched Inca site, and Neal just gave up his residency as a surgeon in New York when the story starts. I'm so excited about this story--I've never had a gun toting female protagonist before. This is the first time I've EVER completely plotted out a novel before starting it, and I'm already so stoked about it!

Keep writing. Don't let someone tell you that it is just a hobby. Take English classes in college and high school, even if you can't stand classic literature. It's the writers like Edgar Allen Poe and Jane Austen who you need to learn about first. If you want to get a creative writing degree in English in college, do it, and don't let someone tell you the degree will be useless. It's invaluable. I don't care if you're writing fan fiction: WRITE.

I'm doing what I love. I'm writing, and right now the top of my bamboo shelf is full of MY books. I'm giving some to friends, I have my copies, and then I'm saving a few that I might do a giveaway with. I've fought with that shelf the past ten years with my mom and my brothers and finally settled the argument when I took it with me to college back in 2006. The fact that I'm an Indie author and my books are up there? I fight back tears if I look at it. I may not be very popular yet as a writer, but this isn't something I'm going to stop.
