I'm a librarian who also happens to write. There's a certain satisfaction in coming up the an idea, relating it to the reader, and typing the last word of the story. It's an accomplishment: like building a dog house.

I usually don't. I won't sit down to write until I've thought about a piece for quite a while, its plot turns and structure. Only then will I find myself writing to capture these thoughts before they escape!
