Write whatever strikes my fancy. If I can't think of what to do next in a story, then maybe I'll write a grocery list. The action of getting words that are in my head onto paper...virtual or real...breaks that mental block.

You can write anywhere. I have a pad and pen in my purse. Notepad on my phone. Computers and notebooks at home. Mental notes.

Write.
Seriously. Get pen and paper, or open a Word document, and get going. I have written something like this before: I don't know what to write, but I'm in the mood to write. So I'm going to sit here and type until something happens. What if...

Just finished Book 2 in Rise of the Battle Bred trilogy! I also have several other projects in the wings, some farther along than others, and I'm going to try NaNoWriMo for the first time this year.

Stories are all around us. I cannot see a stranger's facial expression or hear part of a conversation and not imagine the story behind their life. I am often asking 'what if' just during the mundane activities of my normal life. Sitting down and writing it out is cathartic. Music, books and movies also inspire me to write, as well as visiting book stores!

The inspiration for the Rise of the Battle Bred trilogy came while I was reading a different book in a different genre. It was a stressful action sequence and I was worried about the character dying. The idea was just a mustard seed at that point, and a few days later it began to germinate.
