Physical activity. I find that if I do something physical which doesn't take much thought- go for a walk, a swim or do some cleaning, then I subconsciously work through the problem that is causing the block. The tougher the problem the more effort needed to work it through. Of course, when I reach the point of cleaning out the cupboard under the stairs I know that my book is in deep trouble.
