Thomas Hoobler A publisher told me nobody would publish a YA novel about a school shooting, so I figured I wouldn't have much competition. The publisher was afraid there would be a school shooting and they would open the shooter's locker, find the book, and blame the publisher. So that gave me an idea...what if you just moved to a town where there had been a school shooting and they assigned you to the locker that the shooter formerly had. Would you be curious?
Thomas Hoobler If I waited for inspiration, I would never write anything.
Thomas Hoobler I work on several books at the same time, so when I get stuck I move on to something else. I'm working on a sequel to BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WITCH FOR, and a chapter book for young readers about a boy whose next door neighbor is an alien from another world, and a book for young readers about the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 1906.

Thomas Hoobler You feel the thrill of seeing your work come to life.
Thomas Hoobler I sit there until I get so bored with myself that I write something.
