Im my Thunder & Shield series I wanted to include some kind of American folklore in each novel. The first book deals with a satanic cult because I remember stories of that sort of thing going around when I was a kid. "Don't go into those woods, there's a satanic cult there that sacrifices people", and that sort of thing. The second novel that I just finished deals with voodoo. I've always been interested in the mixed culture in New Orleans, so I decided to make it the setting of the second novel, and of course voodoo had to be in there.

I am constantly daydreaming. It's usually the constant though of "wouldn't it be cool if..." that inspires me to start a story.

Allow yourself to write badly. You can always fix things later. Just write every day, no matter what.

I just keep writing. Even if it's nonsense. Even if it's terrible. I keep writing until eventually some ideas shake loose.
