Ruth Kaufman The freedom to use my imagination to create characters and stories.
Ruth Kaufman Hi Mel,

So glad you're loving MY&FL! I'll see if I can get it added here....
Ruth Kaufman I had an idea for an opening scene involving the hero. Who'd make a great heroine? I had the fabulous book Medieval Craftstmen: Glass-painters, and decided to make her a glass-painter (and learn more about the industry and craft). That decision gave me the idea for their first meeting....
Ruth Kaufman I'm currently finishing (and awaiting the cover design for) the next book in my Wars of the Roses Brides series. It's about the impact of dangerous secrets on a marriage of convenience that has an unusual restriction....
Ruth Kaufman I don't have writer's block very often. Maybe it's because I always review a page or two of what I've written before going forward. Or I'll sketch out the next scene, but not complete it so I have somewhere to start and get back into the zone.
Ruth Kaufman 1) Write every day. If you write one page a day, you'll have 352 pages in a year.
2) Know how to describe what you write specifically (for example, romance is too general IMO) and what's going on in your market.
3) Study craft via workshops and conferences where you can also network with other authors.
