Nelson Cover I ride one of my various bikes. Sooner or later while I'm pedaling, my mind free, characters begin talking with one another and scenes begin to develop.
Nelson Cover The creative process. People I talk with are interested only in the number of books sold. They don't for a moment understand the thrill of inventing a plot that and characters who work. That experience totally eclipses all others. But please, buy and enjoy FTMOW!
Nelson Cover Keep writing. Keep your own counsel as a first priority, but learn from your mistakes and bad tendencies. Share your material with close confidents and friends, occasional outsiders. Know their interests and biases and how those affect their judgment. (I know for certain my British friends will help with correct grammar and usage but will put off by any character with an accent.)
Nelson Cover I've just finished a short story about a leprechaun who makes an appearance to counsel a young man with some personal problems and submitted it. Cross your fingers.
Nelson Cover Since I was early middle school, I've imagined situations stories. My mind never stops. The issue for me is not inspiration but identifying worthwhile stories.
Nelson Cover I wrote a short story which began with Thomas and Zoltan in the university club setting. While that story was very different from FTMOW, the personalities of Thomas and Zoltan and particularly their interaction stood out and receive very favorable commentary from readers.

As time went on, my mind kept coming back to these two characters. It was if Thomas and Zoltan were pleading for a larger platform.
