Sam Bond I take time away from social media to just think. I go for a walk and then sit down and write absolutely anything - normally that will help get me unstuck. I also find writing in pen rather than typing can help when I'm musing over a plot point.
Sam Bond Getting to tell stories and having people tell me how much my writing mean to them. I had someone contact me yesterday to say that I made her husband, who has Alzheimer's, belly laugh and pick up a book for the first time in years. What's not to love about that?
Sam Bond Writing is like an exercise that needs to be done everyday for maximum effect. Do not wait for the muse to hit. Put your bum in the seat, put the pen in your hand and do it.
Sam Bond I'd been meaning to write a cozy murder mystery for about a year and then I found myself in London looking after my mum for the last six months of her life. I was in my own personal lockdown, just me and my mum and as she slept more and more I wrote more and more - it was what kept me sane. Being back in England reminded me of all the things I loved about my birth country and the words just tumbled out. I consider this the last gift my mother gave to me - the time to write.
Sam Bond I just love telling stories. It's just what I do.
Sam Bond So many books - so little time! I'm currently working on the sequel to The Puccini Connection, which is set in the perilous and deadly world of murder mystery writers! However, saying that, just just last night I had this FABULOUS idea for a new, completely unrelated book, that I'm mulling over. Hmmmm!
Sam Bond Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, The Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman and The Secrets of a Charmed Life by Susan Meissner are what currently sit on my bedside table.
Sam Bond Hey mum. Now don't panic!
Sam Bond Definitely the world of Amelia Peabody and her dashing husband, Emerson! Oh to be adopted by those two - life would be so much fun!
