How do I get inspired to write? A character walks into my head and starts bugging me until I write the story they're telling me.

I'm currently working on finishing three or four half-finished projects. One is a family type drama, one is a collection of short stories, and one is a science fiction novel. The family drama's fighting me because it wants to go in a direction I refuse to take it.

I pick up a pen and paper, find where the block is, go back to that point, and try taking the story in a different direction. Usually, that breaks it. I have found that, most of the time, I'd attempted taking the story in a direction it didn't want to go.
(Yes, I have a favorite pen that varies by mood and ink color I want to use--but all of them are fountain pens. I also have half a dozen draft books for working in specific projects.)
