Allyson E. Machate I specialized in prescriptive nonfiction as a ghostwriter for years, and I really loved that work because every project was an opportunity to do a deep dive into the subject matter. On one book, I got an education in interior design and decorating aesthetics. On another, I learned a ton about things like goal setting and self-discipline. In addition to ghostwriting, I did book-doctoring work for publishers, mainly in the health and wellness categories, so while I'm certainly no person-doctor I do know more than the average person about topics like mental health, getting a good night's sleep, eating to avoid/improve illnesses, etc. It's awesome to be able to learn from experts as I worked with them to share their knowledge with readers everywhere.
Allyson E. Machate Hi Igor. Honestly, no. I mean, I do get excited as things unfold, especially if I'm having a good day and really love what I've written, or when a revision has things falling nicely into place. I love that feeling when things start coming together--when you're working on a draft and you cross a kind of turning point where suddenly it starts to come together as a book! I've heard some authors report feeling very attached to characters or stories and getting very emotional when they have to, say, kill someone off, but that hasn't been my experience. I can totally see how that could happen for someone, though.
