The most important question every aspiring writer needs to answer first is, "Why do I want to write?" The "how" of writing can be learned, but you must understand why you want to spend hours in front of a keyboard, read dry research tomes, and pass days waiting for rejections letters. If you don't figure that out, you will never be a writer. The answer to the question is as unique as each individual writer. Why do you want to write? Once you have a reason to write that will motivate you through the ups and downs of writing, you will figure out how to do the rest.

It was inspired by my parents stories, but then I mixed in some research and pure imagination. It took a little bit of effort on several fronts to make the idea come to life. The process of turn the story over and over again in my head helped me take the ideas from small inspirations to a complete story.
